5.75 inches tall, 5 inches and 3.75 inches wide, 2.5 inch opening and a 3.75 inch foot, this Shu Oak vase is striking because of its use of curved and flat surfaces. I left the sides untouched...but this technique makes sanding a real pain. I could not sand the sides while the lathe was spinning or it would have rounded the edges. All of the vase except for the rim and foot were hand sanded...one bit at a time...over and over...grit after grit...did I mention that this is the last time I will make such a vase?
